We’ve facilitated generations of family fun on Virginia’s Chesapeake Bay since 1964, which means year after year families choose Cherrystone to vacation! We love that we provide the space for creativity, exploration, and making meaningful connections for families in one of the most beautiful places on earth: Virginia’s Eastern Shore

We can’t choose just one! Friendly local businesses who provide unmatched services, beautiful scenery, and stunning Chesapeake Bay sunsets are some of our favorites. But our incredible employees who help us facilitate family fun season after season who call the ESVA home might be our top pick!

What Inspires Chatham Flower Farm?

We are a community-based business. Whether it be by selling our flowers retail only, hosting workshops, art events in the barn or hosting small events and weddings. From the beginning we wanted this historic property to be available to our community in a variety of ways.

What is Something Chatham Flower Farm’s Has Learned in the Last Week?

We have learned again, just how special our ESVA community is. When times are tough our neighbors up and down the Shore support and reach out to each other.

What are Chatham Flower Farm’s Current Goals?

Since renovating our historic 1801 barn, we are opening it up for a wedding venue, small private events and a space for artisans and artists to gather, learn, teach and paint on the farm. We also have expanded our growing of Dahlias 3 x the amount as last year and will be bumping this flower up in numbers to be able to sell those tuber varieties to our customers.

Favorite Inspirational Quote?

Favorite Feature of the ESVA?

Favorite feature is by far the collaborative efforts made here on the Shore between artists, farmers, and creatives.

Just for Fun Question - Favorite Line from a Movie?

What Inspires the SPCA?

Many of the pets that come to us have not been well cared for. They often have medical problems such as heartworm and are infested with ticks and fleas. Often they are emaciated and most often they are scared. Our job is to help develop a healthy, loving pet. What makes our day is to see these pets adopted by wonderful loving families who continue to share with us their pet’s lives after they leave the shelter.

What is Something the SPCA Has Learned in the Last Week?

That even in these very trying times, people are still kind and helping one another, as well as continuing to care for their pets.

What are the SPCA’s Goals?

-To find wonderful homes for the pets we shelter.

-To encourage all residents to spay or neuter their pets and reduce the number of unwanted pets on the Shore.

-To support legislation that helps Virginia eliminate animal cruelty.

Favorite Inspirational Quote?

“Saving the life of one animal won’t change the world, but the world will certainly change for that one animal”

- unknown author

Favorite Feature of The ESVA?

The SPCA Eastern Shore serves two of the poorer counties in Virginia. In spite of the fact that we are not a rich community, the Shore’s residents always come to our aid. They have provided funding for medical care, food, supplies, and many volunteers their time. They have adopted dogs and cats of all ages and provided them with loving homes.

Just For Fun Question - Favorite Line From a Movie?

Bailey the Dog: “So, in all my lives as a dog, here's what I've learned. Have fun, obviously. Whenever possible, find someone to save, and save them. Lick the ones you love. Don't get all sad-faced about what happened and scrunchy-faced about what could. Just be here now.”
